A barista-curated 5-course coffee tasting experience featuring 4 different types of coffees

What is a coffee omakase?

Most commonly found as a dining experience for sushi, “omakase” translates directly to “I’ll leave it up to you,” in Japanese, and offers a prix fixe menu curated by the chef.

Kona’s coffee omakase adopts the essence of that concept by providing a barista-curated tasting menu of select coffees and beverages to create a unique coffee tasting experience.

Why a coffee omakase?

Coffee tasting events are most commonly done through cupping, which standardizes the brewing method to best taste the flavors of the coffee. However, we wanted to provide a tasting experience that was not only COVID safe, but also included the intricacies of brewing methods. By making different coffees using different brewing equipment, we hope to erase the misconception of a singular “best way to drink coffee,” and help you explore which method works best for you.

Who is this event for?

While there is a shroud of snobbery that surrounds both the coffee industry and the omakase experience, this event is really for everyone and anyone. Whether you’ve never had coffee before, always wanted to get into it, are a daily coffee drinker, or even a dedicated coffee obsessive, this event is for you. With one-on-one time with a barista, get all your coffee questions answered and more.

About the Coffees:

All coffees are responsibly sourced and roasted in-store using our Bellwether Roaster.

More information on the specific coffees we are serving will be provided during the omakase.

*Health and Safety Concerns:

While our coffee omakase is an in-person experience, we are well aware that the pandemic is not over, and the health and safety of both our customers and our baristas are of paramount importance. In order to provide this unique experience in a safe manner, we will be enforcing the following guidelines:

  1. Closing the indoor shop space for the duration of the omakase to maximize the space our guests have to socially distance from each other and other people.

  2. A maximum dining time of 90 minutes.

  3. A maximum party number of 4 people to prevent over-crowding.

  4. All guests must have their temperature taken before being seated. This is required by the city.

  5. Masks must be worn at all times, especially when talking to each other and to the barista. When drinking or eating, please remove your mask temporarily, and put it back on when done.

Non-Refundable Deposit:

Because this is a reservation only event, and we go through extensive measures to close our shop, we are asking a non-refundable deposit of $20 per party. This will be deducted from the total amount during check out at the end of your visit.
